Re: Hangup on house hold loading screen

i appreciate the move, since i wasn't sure where to post it. i can do the dx(it's attached), but it would be pointless, this has happened on 4 devices(win10 surface pro, win7 laptop, win7 desktop-which is now a win10 desktop completely rebuilt last spring with new hard drives etc). this has happened after hard drive replacements, complete uninstall-reinstall(all folders deleted etc).

Did you install the game from Origin on each computer and then start a new game every time?

Are all games independent that you tried with new Sims or did you download Sims from the gallery on each save ?

Any programs that could be interfering that are installed on each computer ?

Have you tried a clean boot ?

    https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/how-to-clean-boot-your-pc/

If it works in that mode, then it's a background program interfering and you will need to find out which one.

No gallery items, no cc, fresh install on a brand new hard drive on the current desktop. I used to do tech support, so I get the dx file and safe boot q's. I've removed the game from the other two systems (the desktop was rebuilt after a glorious CPU death). This should not happen through two OS, and 4 different computers. I deliberately left this desktop clean of CC after the install for about 2 weeks, it still happens.

  • Forgot to add this only happens when Sims are in use, as long as I'm only making lots etc the game works fine, as soon as I actively use Sims that's it.

That is indeed a bit odd.

I think there should be more reports like yours if that was a general bug going on. There's always reports for lags and stuff but complete hangs and never loading on a fresh save is not something I've seen around.

I know you said it only happens after doing particular things but those seem common enough to me.

I could test a save you're seeing it on but as you tested multiple computers and new saves, that's probably useless as well.

Bit unsure how to help you

like i said i used to do tech support, so i know most of the usual tricks and things to try... i'm at a complete loss as well, hence me coming here, i didn't have much hope after a search showed i was "special".

This is an unusual problem for sure.

To be absolutely clear on that, you did preformed a clean boot?

You have not used the same save games on these platforms?

I agree with Crin, if this would be a game bug it should be reported way more often.

Have you used similar or the same software on all these systems, in particular a virus scanner or other security software?
Have you used the same hardware, including peripherals, on all these systems?

win7 home, win10 home between the 4 systems

no 3rd party software other than origin games, eq2, winrar,  and discord. this computer was a completely fresh install(my 5 years old CPU blew up), no saved games etc. i DL'd orgin from their website.... i replaced the hd, cpu, mb, ram, gpu  and upgraded from win7 to win10(brand new version)- aka other than the case and PSU it's a brand spankin' new computer with no old programming to carry over. knowing my previous problems, i wanted to avoid them, so i also avoid CC for the first couple of weeks, till i saw the problem creep up again. i did not copy over any saved files etc, since i did changed OS, my old HD is formatted and only for storage. i have disabled every extra program i could, as i am not a fan of win10 and their intrusive apps. with so little in the system, i cannot narrow down what is causing it any further, which is why i came here.

OK, did you check your RAM usage to see if it is in fact a memory leak?

Is there periphery hardware you used on all machines?

i'll check the ram the next time it happens, other than a headset no, nothing is shared, not even the mouse.
