Re: HELP my laptop shuts down when I try to play Sims 4
@CatiaFCSabino If your laptop can't cool itself properly, it will initiate an emergency shutdown to protect its hardware. But normally it would never get to this point—Windows will throttle performance when temperatures get too high.
The fact that this isn't happening, or at least not enough, in even 15 minutes of gameplay suggests that there's something wrong with the cooling apparatus. Maybe a fan isn't working, maybe the fans or the vents are clogged with dust, maybe the cooling paste has dried out... it's impossible to say without opening up the laptop and having a look. If you're not comfortable doing this, you could take the laptop to a computer store and ask for help.
Without knowing your specs or how the computer is put together, it's possible that this laptop isn't built to handle running demanding tasks like Sims 4. If this is true, or even if it isn't but you can't get temperatures under control, then no, you shouldn't be playing. Excessive heat can definitely damage your laptop.
