Hi, thanks for the reply. This does (sort of) work; however the offline status is reset every time you restart the app. If I for example launch the game through a desktop shortcut, the EA app is then automatically opened in online mode and I have to go through the dropdown menu process to run the game in offline mode each time the game is launched. This also means that the EA client will still automatically run forced updates.
There is currently no way to run the EA app in offline mode by default, I guess, which sucks.
- crinrict3 years agoHero+@DieQuicker yes, that's how it is. Was that different for Origin ? There aren't that many forced updates for Sims 4 though.
........
I've been doing this but it doesn't seem to be working anymore. It just keeps trying to open the EA app whenever I try to open the Sims, even though the EA app is already open and offline. I don't want to deal with the new update yet.
- @itschaostheory Try to open The Sims from the offline EA app, not from the The Sims 4 shortcut.
I am desperately trying to get my game to start without getting the face squishing update! I was playing fine the other day, then when I was at work my partner switched my graphics card and had to restart the computer. Now it either says my "licence has expired" when I try and launch offline, or that my game is corrupted and I need to repair it. I am pretty sure repairing is the same as updating it. Sometimes nothing simply happen when I click the button to launch.
Is there a way to launch the game offline???
If I go online there is no option to play without updating
@Viddeliten I'm not sure there's away around the issue for you, but you can try clearing the EA App's cache:

Otherwise, hopefully the bug will be fixed soon and you won't need to deal with the issue at all.
Is there a way to play the sims4 ONLINE without having to wait on useless updates that change nothing what-so-ever?
I play my sims game about 3-4 times a week and EVERY SINGLE TIME the game loads up, there is yet another update, that will take around 12-20minutes to download, and you won't even notice the difference afterward.
AND OMG, have you seen the way that the game downloads? It goes through like 7 different phases, instead of just doing it all at once, like downloading, then verifying, then applying, then verifying again, and so on...
I'm so tired of it constantly having to update, plz send help. SOS. 😢
@e42tx3giu3sf The only way to play Sims 4 without updating is to take the EA App (not your computer, just the App) offline before launching the game. But you shouldn't be seeing nearly so many updates. There were two back to back today and yesterday, the standard patch and then an emergency patch, but the previous update was in January. So if you're being prompted to update more regularly, that's a clear system issue.
In that case, please let me know whether you've installed Sims on on an external drive, and what antivirus you use, if any.
I used to play sims 4 a lot and since my laptop didn't have enough space to update it, i would do this. However now I am trying to do it but with the new EA app thing it won't work. Any suggestions? xx
@LucyBellx You should be able to play without updating after taking the EA App offline. However, if the only reason you're not updating is the lack of space on your computer, try repairing instead. This should update you automatically.
Longer-term, it would be best to clear enough space for Sims 4 to update normally. That's less because of the game than for the overall health of your computer, which won't be able to install feature updates with so little free storage. When space drops too low, it can and will impact everyday tasks too, Sims 4 and eventually something as simple as opening a browser.

Is this still supposed to work? I'm wondering if it's just my app that's glitched, but I can't play the Sims if the EA app is open. When I go through the Sims desktop icon, it opens the EA app and then the Sims. If, however, I open the EA app first and then try to play the Sims, nothing happens until I close the EA app and then go through the Sims desktop icon again. This means that there is no way of launching the game with the app in Offline mode and so no way of playing it without updating, which I would really like, simply so I can play whilst waiting for mods to be updated.
@Fuchsia-1989 Try updating the App itself. Go here:
C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop
and launch the EAUpdater.exe. Then restart your computer and see whether you can open the App, put it in offline mode, and launch Sims 4.
