Re: Looking for a laptop for Sims 4
@timdrakes From a performance standpoint, the Acer Swift is clearly the best option. The most important detail here is the GPU, and the Swift is the only one with a dedicated graphics card. The RTX 3050 is more than twice as fast as the graphics in any of the other Windows PCs, although the M2's graphics chip is in the same ballpark for the few games that run natively on ARM Macs. Still, the Swift has a lot more storage, which is convenient if not strictly necessary.
If you're a Mac person who would prefer to stick with macOS, then that's one thing. If you're just looking for the best performance for your money, a Windows PC is the better option.
The one thing that gives me pause is that the Swift is sold by a third party. If you trust Amazon to take care of you, that's fine, but otherwise, I'd look for something sold directly by Amazon. Either way, it appears that the best graphics card in your price range is the RTX 4050, although I only see a couple of laptops with this GPU for under $20k pesos. The last-generation 3050 is significantly slower but still capable of running all current Sims 4 content on ultra graphics settings. So the question is whether you'd like to go right up to your price limit to get a faster GPU, or keep the cost down and get something still capable of ultra settings.
Looking at the Amazon México options, I found this within your price range, which would be great if the specs in the title were accurate:
https://www.amazon.com.mx/ASUS-FA506NC-HN003W-GeForce-Garant%C3%ADa-Servicio/dp/B0CY3P3DH4
But it's not clear whether it has an RTX 3050 and 16 GB RAM, as in the product name and photos on the left; or a (much slower) RTX 2050 and 8 GB RAM, as in the product description. If there's a way you can contact someone at Amazon to find out, I'd suggest doing so before spending any money. The Asus product page itself lists this exact SKU (FA506NC-HN003W) has having a 3050 and 16 GB RAM though:
https://www.asus.com/uk/laptops/for-gaming/tuf-gaming/2021-asus-tuf-gaming-a15/where-to-buy/
This is a somewhat more expensive model with an RTX 3050 and 16 GB RAM and no discrepancies in the product description:
https://www.amazon.com.mx/Lenovo-LOQ-15IAX9-i5-12450HX-Retroiluminado/dp/B0CZ7NP6F9
And here's the cheapest good option I saw with an RTX 4050:
https://www.amazon.com.mx/MSI-12450H-NVIDIA-GeForce-Laptop/dp/B0CNB9SN2X
The most important detail is the graphics card, followed by memory (16 GB is plenty; 8 GB is okay but not ideal). The processor will be good enough to keep up with the GPU, and almost all of these models have at least 512 GB storage. So if you don't like any of the ones I linked and don't want the Swift you found, just look for at least an RTX 3050 and 16 GB RAM.
If you have more questions, feel free to keep asking.
