Hello! sorry for my late reply i had work, it happens in every save...i tried to make a new one but there wasn't any difference unfortunately. i noticed when i turn on laptop mode it increases a bit to 35-40 FPS but thats maximum too and the graphics get so bad when i have most of them on medium except sims quality on high... i didn't limit my fps and whenever i load up the main menu it shows 144 FPS but never in my game ☹️ here is my dxdiag i hope this helps, again sorry for the late reply.

  • @nviiw  Your dxdiag is full of errors of what looks like a component of IOBit software, so if you use its antivirus, please set exceptions for TS4_x64.exe and Origin.exe.  Please also test in a new user folder: move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  Don't add anything to it yet; just start another new save and see how it runs.  If it's fine, you can move your saves and other content to the new folder and test.

If that doesn't help, please look for any Sims 4-related errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

For any errors that list Sims 4 or Origin, or any that happened while you were trying to play, right-click on the error name and select "View technical details," then copy the info and paste it into a reply here.  I'm only interested in errors that happen in the new Sims 4 folder, as described above.  If you don't see an error but fps is still low, that's useful information too.  The Reliability Monitor only updates once every hour or two, so you may need to check back later if you've already opened it recently.

And don't worry about the late reply.  Someone is always here to help whenever people are ready.

i also think ive found something related.. apparently an app called "awc.exe" has been having errors for weeks on end but i don't even know what it is, it seems to be an acer laptop component? i honestly don't know if it even relates to the issue or not

  • @nviiw  According to Google, AWC.exe is a component of Advanced WindowsCare made by IObit, which is why I asked about that software.  But it's possible that an entirely different program uses the same designation for a different .exe, so it's worth checking.  The easiest way is to search for awc in a File Explorer window (click This PC in the left panel first), then right-click on the entry and select Open file location.  The file path should tell you what program installed it.

@puzzlezaddict thank you!!! ok so i uninstalled it and ill try playing the game now in a completely new folder again and see if anything changes
  • @nviiw update: no improvement ☹️ it seems like laptop mode was the only thing making the FPS increase a bit to max 35, my specs are supposed to be recommended not minimum so i know i can play with good quality and high fps, seems like my problem is something with my laptop or the sims 4 not using my nvidia card properly?
  • @nviiw update again: tried it on low graphic settings, vertical sync tried adaptive and fast, disabled internet devices from settings, removed every cc and mods on a brand new sims 4 folder; nothing worked ☹️ can't believe i get max 20 fps on a new folder with no mods or cc
  • @nviiw  Are you playing while on battery?  You'll see a significant drop in performance while on battery; it's always best to plug a laptop in while playing anything.

To force Windows to use the Nvidia card, open Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics settings, click Browse, find TS4_x64.exe, click Options, select the high-performance option, and click Save.

@puzzlezaddicti never play on battery, and i did what you said a while ago but haven’t seen any changes, weirdly the fps increases to 40 when i go into sims 4 basements level but unfortunately that’s it, i also did a windows scan but no errors came up and updated my drivers through installing a new one, still max at 20 for gameplay ☹️

  • @nviiw  Do you have Eco Lifestyle installed, and if so, does it help to disable the effects of the eco footprint?  You can keep testing in a new save if you want.  And please test in one of the base game worlds.

It's understandable that fps would increase when you're viewing a basement because there's comparatively little background to render, and simpler lighting effects.  But 40 fps is still pretty low for that situation.

I'd like to see the results of some hardware monitoring too, in case something else is going on.  Download hwinfo from here:

    https://www.hwinfo.com/download/

You don't need to install anything; just choose the portable version, unzip it, and launch it from Downloads or wherever you want.  (If you'd prefer to install, make sure to click the button for hwinfo itself, not for lansweeper.)  Restart your computer, launch hwinfo, choose "sensors only," and click the button that's a sheet of paper with a + to start logging.

Wait five minutes, then launch Sims 4 and play for at least 20 minutes; you can click the same button to end logging when you're done.  Upload the log to the filesharing site of your choice (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) and link it here.  Please leave the .csv in log format or create a .zip file, and don't open and save it or my log reader may not be able to make sense of the data.
