Are you using any custom content such as hair, clothing and such from third party sites ?

  • If you are on Mac go to the bar at the top of your home screen and press the little apple symbol underneath "recent items" press force quit and select the sims

  • So, last night i was playing Sims 4 with my friend and i tried to exit out and loaded for a really long time and then the mac timed out. i went to sleep thinking we were done with it. then, this morning i wake up and turn on the mac to find its stuck on the same screen it was last night and still loading. everything is frozen. WHAT DO I DO

Try Command + Option + Escape and force close The Sims 4. If it won't work, hold the power off button until the Mac device turns off. It could be some or all progress is lost, but there isn't much you can do.

If playing with mods and custom content, move your mods folder to the desktop, clear your game cache and delete the localthumbcache.package from the Sims 4 folder to help with troubleshooting.

Try playing the game again to test without the mods folder. If it loads okay, it may be that some of the mods/cc have become outdated.

    How to Delete Cache Files
    https://sims4.crinrict.com/en/2014/09/delete-cache-files/

Custom content can become outdated with most new game patches. If the game works when the Mods folder is removed, then one or more of the mods and/or custom content has become outdated and will need to be removed or replaced. EA/Maxis aren't responsible for broken mods/cc. It's up to the creators to fix.

Disabling or turning off both mod/cc options isn't enough of a test.

    Try the 50/50 method:

    1. Move all the mods and cc out into a temporary folder on the desktop.
    2. Move a few files back at a time. Load the game to make sure it loads and everything is good.
    3. Delete the localthumbcache.package from the Sims 4 folder.
    4. Repeat steps 1 - 3 till there is no more files to check.

** While your testing, don't save the game. If you find any problems, delete the mod or custom content file.

How To Find Problem Mods and CC
    http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS4_Finding_Problem_Custom_Content

If you've already been through your mods folder and cleared the game cache, try the tips below:

    1. Repair Game:
In Origin > Games Library, right-click on Sims 4 and select Repair.

    2. Turn off Origin in game:
In Origin - Application Settings - Origin In-Game. Turn this off. As sometimes it causes issues with the game.

    3. Start the game in Windowed mode:
In Origin - Games Library tab, right-click on Sims 4 and select Game Properties - In the Command Line Arguments, add the following text: -w and click Okay.

If this doesn't help, please give us some information on your computer? https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/pc/how-to-gather-dxdiag-information/

You can attach the text file to your post or reply directly. (To attach a file click the browse button just above the Preview button, at the bottom of the message box.)

With this information we can see if there's any hardware or driver issues.

I don’t understand. While I was travelling with I think 2 sims, the game starts loading , as usual but it’s been loading now for around 2 days. I have loads of cc downloaded and I deleted it for now just to save my game 😉 but it’s still loading and I have no idea what to do!!! Also, I tried restarting my Mac and it doesn’t restart because I need to exit out of the sims 4 first but obviously I can’t do that if it’s on the load screen! Please help me!!!

Deleting it while the game is running will not help. Please follow earlier instruction on how to restart your PC.
