Re: what do i need for 4k or 1440p sims 4?
@Eleanor_Mo_Mo Your parts list is more than sufficient to run Sims 4 at 144 fps at 1440p, or 60 fps at 4k, at least under ideal conditions. (The game itself will have slowdowns, that's inevitable and will happen even when your hardware isn't close to maxed out.) The GPU probably won't do 4k at 144 fps, or anything close, and the CPU might not be able to handle it either. But if the TV only runs at 60 Hz, you couldn't see the extra frames anyway, so there's not much point in paying more for faster hardware.
The one thing I'd suggest changing about the parts list is paying a little more for a higher-quality SSD. For example:
Personally, I'd even prefer a high-quality PCIe Gen. 3 drive over the cheapest Gen. 4 drives. Sims 4 doesn't come close to maxing out either one, and the difference in startup times for Windows would probably be a few seconds at most. On the other hand, drive durability matters down the line, as does reliability. For a primary drive that's holding important data, I find the immediate, out of the box speeds, and the price for that matter, less important than how the drive will be performing in three to five years.
