Recent Update

For some reason I am unable to update my game to the latest version. Like the ability to update the game just does not come up on EA when I try to update. I have restarted my device and EA app and it still does not apear. I just really want to update the game so I get get the new build buy stuff which have recently been released.

  • TomaIsTosik  What version do you see in the lower-left corner of the Main Menu?  The current version is 1.113.297.  If you have that, there's nothing to update.

If you see an earlier version, repair the game and look again.

The newest items, released a few days ago, are part of a Sims Delivery Update.  You can check for updates under Options > Game Options > Sims Delivery.  It make take a few minutes for the content to install, and you'll need to restart the game to see it.

If that doesn't help, please open Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 and delete the content folder.  Load the game, and if the SDX download doesn't start on its own, check again under Sims Delivery.  Either way, give it a few minutes to download, then quit and reload to see whether the content appears.

Keep in mind that the items don't necessarily show as new, so you may have to search for them manually.

puzzlezaddictthank you so much for answering my problem. I have tried to do what you have said. Go into documents> electronic arts> the sims4, but when I get to the content folder, there is nothing to delete. Is something wrong with my file? Any other suggestions I could do to fix this?

  • TomaIsTosik  The point of my suggestion about the content folder is that sometimes, having files inside will make the game think you already have the SDX content installed, so it won't download the new content.  This can happen if the folder doesn't get emptied after the previous SDX download.  It should be emptied when you patch and load the game, since that content is added with the next patch; I'm just saying it occasionally doesn't happen.

If you have an empty content folder, simply open the game and tell it to check for new SDX content, as described.  If you see a message about no new content, or some kind of error, post a screenshot.

  • TomaIsTosik  This particular error has traditionally been antivirus-related.  So please set exceptions in yours for TS4_x64, TS4_DX9_x64, and TS4_Launcher_x64, or the entire Bin folder they're in.  Set an exception for EADesktop.exe as well while you're there.

If this doesn't help, you can temporarily disable your antivirus, or Controlled Folder Access if you use Windows Defender, just long enough to open the game and download the SDX content.  As long as you don't do anything else at the same time, your computer should be safe, and you can reenable the AV afterwards without losing the content.
