Redownloading Sims with EA App Trouble

So. Last night I found one of my old hard drives I used to hold all my CC (by old, I mean from 2021). I had previously had trouble with the Sims 4 Game crashes, so I decided just to uninstall and reinstall my game. Well, it took over 24 hours. Previously, The Sims 4 was saved to my laptop as: Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. And it had all of the folders in it, Mods, cache, last resource, etc. However, now there is a folder saved to my PC as: Program Files > EA Games > The Sims 4. And instead of there being the regular folder that is there typically, as in the previous folder. now there is "_Installer", Data, Delta, Game, and Support, alongside the fact that the game is taking longer than usual to re-install.

I followed up with support, who at first told me to clear cache, uninstall and reinstall the EA and redownload The Sims. However, I've fallen into the same problem. Then, I followed up with another support admin who told me to go back to the original folder I had, create a new one, and transfer the files there - yet that did nothing because I had not downloaded the game to my computer, it's still in limbo. Recently, she told me to just delete the files and utilized the other ones I had stored, but by that point, I had deleted The Sims 4 completely from the Electronic Arts folder it was originally in.

Now I'm stuck with a game taking 1 hour to load (just base game) and the same problem I had from the start. I've attached some files to help get the picture.

  • I'm replying here, as I need help with one of my issues and I'm still considered a new member.

I've been trying to redownload The Sims 4 to my PC after having some problems with the game closing last night. As of right now, I'm on my second round of uninstalling and reinstalling, as the game took over 24 hours to download and I was advised to restart. Previously, my game was stored in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. However, with advisement, I was told to delete that folder. So now I have a folder in Program Files > EA Games > The Sims 4, but this time it has different folders than the last time "_Installer", "Support", etc. It's still taking hours to download, and I haven't even downloaded the base game as of right now. Could anyone help me? I'm really frustrated.

  • Did you try deleting unwanted files on your computer? This includes duplicate photos, game cache, etc.

Yep. Everything from the sims 4 is gone, and it’s still taking forever to download.

  • Ok, Maybe you should reset your computer and start over? What does your computer screen look like? Hey, I’m as smart as @EA_Solaire , @EA_Cade , and @ReneHollyDesign1 . They were able to help me with my issue, So I should be able to help you with yours.

  • Edit:. I've merged your posts into the same thread to keep everything together.  Before saying anything else, let me make it clear that you do NOT need to reset your computer, nor is that a good idea overall considering how much other data you might lose.  This problem is entirely fixable without such drastic actions.

@Ellezbby  Sims 4 always creates two folders, one for the game's program files (that the EA App installs) and one for user content (saves, saved households and builds, etc.).  The first folder can be wherever you want, but it's best not to choose Documents or Downloads.  The second folder is always in Documents > Electronic Arts.  These two folders should never be mixed.

Since you've installed the game itself into Documents > Electronic Arts, please uninstall it through the EA App and reinstall somewhere else.  The default location is fine:

    C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 4

But if you want to use a different folder, go ahead.

The user folder won't be created until you've launched Sims 4 for the first time, or for the first time since uninstalling the game.  But before you do that, you'll need to decide whether you want OneDrive syncing your Sims 4 files, for example your custom content.  If you don't want that, it's much easier to fix before you have files to lose.  I can help with that process; just let me know whether you want OneDrive present at all, and if so, whether you want other data inside Documents to be synced.
