Oh jeez. I just repaired my game! Dangit!!!😱
I'm having a similar issue.
I just installed the latest game update for the Sims 4 and now I can't start my game. A message popped up saying Unable to start: The contents of your data directory were created by a newer version of the Sims 4 and cannot be loaded. Please update your game Via Origin to play.

This happened to me also.. just when my save files current plot was getting so good!!!!

Same issue, I've tried everything to get the game to launch and its not worked. I'm guessing its an EA issue and hopefully they fix it soon. 😒
Repair set my game back to old version. Can't update again, like all the others. New game did nothing. No new stuff added. This update is bugged, which is very ironic.
My game received an update then a second which canceled the first. My game needs to be updated on origin... plus it doesn't give me access to the event
Does your game open like at all?? mine just does this.. and i never had origin only the ea app.
I am also unable to open the game after the update, and I did try repairing. I get the following error. I updated my game when the update came out, exited the game for a bit and was pushed into a second unexpected update, and now I can not open. Mods currently turned off and script mods are removed from my folders at this time.
