Residential Rental Lots Lagging In Buildmode

Hi there,

It is extremely frustrating when building in a residential rental lot type, the game becomes extremely laggy in-between actions.  For example I add a wall and then have to wait like 30s for the game to unfreeze so I can continue building.  It doesn't matter if I have 2 units or 6 on the lot, the performace sucks.  I am primarily a builder and want to move families into each lot as I build, but it is virtually impossible to do this as the build mode becomes unusable due to the issues mentioned above.

Please fix this as it is an INTEGRAL part of an expansion pack and for it to not run smoothly is a total failure.

  • izzy_inglis  I don't see anything Sims 4-related in your dxdiag, but one test worth doing is switching to DirectX 11 mode, if you haven't already.  How to do so is covered here:

    DirectX 11 (DX11) for The Sims 4 - A Step-by-Step Guide | EA Forums - 11811172

If that doesn't help, try playing with your computer offline, which you also shouldn't have to do but helps with lag in some cases.  You can sign into the EA App and put it in offline mode, then disable wifi and/or disconnect the ethernet cable before pressing Play.  If this improves things, try again with your computer online but with the App still in offline mode.

Hi puzzlezaddict so for me the issue isn't lot specific.  The lot I'm currently building on is the hare & hedghog in windenberg & it is my own build so nothing has come from the gallery.  Normally I turn the lot into a rental after building if there's only 2 or so units, but as this is an apartment block I wanna move sims in as I go but this isn't possible due to the insane lag.

I have attached the Dxdiag info for you.

  • I stopped using Rental lots now... they have never worked for me since launch. However, a valid post. Definitely the same for me, too.

  • izzy_inglis  Please test this on a different lot, preferably in one of the base game worlds.  I'd like to know whether it's a problem with building a residential rental at all, or with one of the lots or worlds.  And if the test lot in the base game world also lags, please try the same in a new save.

If the new save is affected too, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

One potential workaround is to build as a regular residential lot, then switch to a rental when you're done.  I realize it's not the way you want to play, but at least you could get the build done.

This shouldn't happen at all though, and I don't see a lot of reports of lag during building that affect more than one build or lot.  The problem is usually a lot that's broken somehow, often one downloaded from the Gallery and that probably worked fine initially but was affected by a later patch.
