Save files disappear

My Sims save files completely disappeared right after the September 2026 update on PC, EA App.

I tried checking my local folders and my OneDrive account, but the game is only generating a brand-new folder with a test save.

  • DillyBarBoy  This guide lists a couple other ways to search for missing files:

⚙️[PC] Sims 4 Missing User Content (saves, mods, etc.) | EA Forums - 12636780

As for why this happened, where is your game installed?  You can see the location in the EA App, under Sims 4 > Manage > View properties.  And how much free and total space do you have on your system drive?  Open a File Explorer window and click This PC in the left panel, and you'll see the stats for each drive.

I don’t know much about computers and stuff. And all of this is stressing me out. Could you maybe dumb it down?

  • DillyBarBoy  The guide is meant for people who don't necessarily know their way around computers.  Most of it makes perfect sense if you folllow the instructions: you'll see the same thing on your screen that's in the guide screenshots, and then you'll know what to do next.  If there's a particular step that's giving you trouble, let me know.  But I can't rewrite the entire guide based on my predictions of which steps you might be getting stuck on.

As for the location where Sims 4 is installed, I already described where to see it.  Please open the EA App and have a look.
