Everytime I take a screenshot, the game freezes. I have no mods as the game just updated and I haven't put the mods folder back in my sims 4 folder yet. I have to keep restarting my computer to get out of the game so it totally freezes and won't come back.

Skyegal23  Does this happen in normal mode as well as tab or first-person (shift-tab) mode?  It seems so from your screenshot, but I want to confirm.

Please try switching to windowed mode, and separately, try switching to DirectX 9 mode.  Both are options on the graphics settings page.

Please also provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Normal, I have never used the other two modes to take pictures. I will try your suggestions and see if it works

Skyegal23  Great.  I've moved your thread to PC tech since windowed mode worked.  The problem could be a background process, so try playing immediately after restarting your computer, with nothing running other than the EA App, and Steam if you use it.  Disable the EA App in-game overlay, under Settings > Application, and the Steam in-game overlay if you play through Steam; and disable any other apps that come with overlays, for example Discord.

My Game completely freezes after i hit the C button to take a screenshot. I have to restart my PC to exit the Game.

It's not in POV mode but in normal Mode.

Skyegal23  Is that still in windowed mode, or in fullscreen?  And I'm guessing you're still in DX9 mode, but please let me know if you've switched back to DX11.

Additionally, are there any other common factors for when the game freezes, for example maybe you're on a certain lot, or certain sims are present?

dabrat2255  I've merged your post with another one about the same issue.  Please try switching to windowed mode, and DirectX 9 mode, and let me know whether either helps.

Please also provide a dxdiag, for reference.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Skyegal23  Then I'd like to see the type of crash, if any, this creates. so please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Click Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of this freeze.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

    Thank you!

It seems to work in window mode :)

Should I still provide a dxdiag file?

I put it in directx9 and windowed and so far that seemed to have fixed the issue but before the patch the game worked fine so I think this issue has something to do with the patch and not my computer

dabrat2255  You don't need to post a dxdiag, but I'd still like one so I can look for similarities among those affected (right now just two players, but there may be more).  So it's your choice.

Skyegal23  The Reliability Monitor is a fundamental feature of Windows, so it should be there somewhere.  Entering perfmon /rel in the run box should bring it up, but make sure you're entering it correctly; some people get tripped up by the space before the slash.

As for why this happened, the patch was of course the immediate trigger, but this issue hasn't been reported enough for the feature to be fundamentally broken.  So it's some combination of the game and your computer or your installed software.

Skyegal23  Thanks.  If you right-click one of these entries and select "View technical details," you may see a bit more information.  That's what I'd like to see, just for reference.

Skyegal23  Thanks, that's what I was looking for.  AppHangB1 errors can be related to the graphics driver, among other things.  Do you want to try updating or reinstalling the driver?  If the problem is persistent, it's probably worth doing so, but if you can avoid the freezes by using DirectX 9 mode, that's a reasonable alternative.
