Sims 4 - Micro Freezing when panning camera

For about the last 2 years I have dedicated my life to trying to fix 'The Sims 4', to no avail and after consulting on many forums I am going to give it one last try. I have been having this issue when ever I pan the camera, i.e. click the camera pan button (middle mouse for me) and move it I get these freezey stutters, almost like when I pan the FPS goes down to 0 and back up to 60 in a split second causing this jerky horrible camera movement, hence the 'micro' freezes. Tried all the steps given by EA to fix this, contacted support many times, but nothing works. Giving it one last go, before I give up trying to fix it. When I mean I've tried all the basic steps, I've tried and unsuccessful fixed it by; Repairing, Deleting Cache Files, Reinstalling. Resetting Sims, Resetting Sims 4 Folder, Checking I meet the requirements (which I do, i7-7700K/GTX 1080/16GB RAM), etc. and every other basic step. I'm running Windows 10. I'm also using windowed mode, which does fix some issues I was having, but the panning camera issue with the micro freezes is still present.

ANY help whatsoever would be appreciated.

Thank you 🙂

  • Bump, do ea advisors even read these posts? Still recieved no help...

  • Bump again, terrible support from EA, still absolutely no help. Lmao, fix your service please.

  • @Storxm0  Hi, I'm a player like you, as are almost all the responders here.  You might see the occasional EA community manager pop in, but mostly this forum is players helping fellow players.  Maybe part of the reason that you haven't received a reply is that you've already tried all the suggestions that people could think to offer.  (I'm guessing you've confirmed that this happens in any save, even one with brand new sims in a clean folder.)

Having said that, it did occur to me that you could try experimenting with one fps limiter or another.  TS4 doesn't need one, of course, but perhaps its built-in function is struggling or malfunctioning a bit in your case.  An outside tool might do a better job of smoothing out your frame rates.  To be clear, I'm not saying that it will help, but since everyone seems to be out of ideas, it might be worth a shot.  (It's also a possibility that you already have an active fps limiter that's messing with the game, but you didn't mention using one.)

With Nvidia cards, the built-in Control Panel is usually the first choice, but it likely won't work in windowed mode.  Nvidia Inspector (free download) would be next up.  I have an AMD card, so I use RTSS (another free download), which works great for me, although it does need to be running while you play; MSI Afterburner is also a good option.

I'd like to add onto -PuzzleAddict's great advice.

It's a known issue for Sims 4 to be a little laggy when using the camera to zoom in and out and across the screen.

If it helps to answer my question, the issue only occurs in Live Mode, Build/Buy Mode AND Pause Mode work perfectly, silky smooth
