Sims 4 consistent issues with loading, corrupted files, and none of my mods work

I’ve just about had it with this game. I’ve never had so many issues all at once. I decided to try and delete one drive since it seemed to keep syncing my files and possibly causing the game to corrupt. Every time I’d try to open my game it would tell me the directory was corrupted or unreadable. This happened to me once before and I was able to solve it by uninstalling and reinstalling the sims 4 game itself. My EA and steam accounts are ALWAYS linked. That’s never been my issue. I have an Acer nitro 5 (not sure on computer types I’m really just reading what’s on my computer physically — there’s icons and stickers that say it). But it’s always been able to run the sims 4 in the past. I just recently bought cottage living since I’d been wanting it for a while and saw it was on sale. I swear after buying that everything went downhill. I was able to play with it a little but the game kept freezing and saving without stopping. I had to force quit and lose progress quite a few times. That wouldn’t matter in the end though because after uninstalling the game this time, every single save I’ve ever had disappeared. I’m so upset about it. I’ve got 1600+ hours in this game and I’ve lost everything. And it STILL freezes. I have had to force quit it YET AGAIN. And this time I had to just turn the computer off — I couldn’t even get task manager to show up it was so frozen. Maybe I’ll just stop playing the sims entirely. Maybe I have to just accept that it’s not working. Does anyone have any advice? Did I mess up by deleting one drive? Probably but I didn’t know how else to get it to stop syncing. I tried disabling it at start up but that wouldn’t work either. I’m not exactly tech savvy so I have no clue how to make anything work. I thought as long as my downloaded mods were in the mods folder within the sims 4 folder that it would work with the game options allowing for CC and script mods. Idk what to do anymore. This computer was like $800 from Best Buy in maybe 2018/2019. Maybe it’s just a * computer. Can anyone help me?

  • @alyssaleigh101 I'm so sorry that this has happened to you!

I think deleting OneDrive was the cause of these issues. It probably got confused when you downloaded Cottage Living as there was nothing to support it. If you are not going to use OneDrive you MUST use another storage system. That's the reason all of your saves are gone : because there is nothing for them to be stored in. You should've downloaded a different storage system and transferred all of your data into the new one before deleting OneDrive because now your computer is very confused.
If you're lucky, you may still be able to save some stuff.
Try logging into OneDrive.com and your data should still be available. You will just need to transfer it to a new storage system. Try downloading EaseUS Todo Backup Home and transfer the data you have in OneDrive.com into it.
This will hopefully restore your game to normal.
If not, try repairing your game. On The Sims 4 homepage, click on the manage button and then choose repair. It may take about 5 minutes to repair basegame and ALL of the packs you own.

My fingers are crossed xx 🙂
