SIMS 4 constantly crashing (unplayable). January 10th 2025
SIMS 4 constantly crashing randomly, during cas, after cas, during gameplay, manage world screen, on start-up, on save, after save, everywhere.
high end pc
have tried all steps including (removing sims 4 file and playing with no cc/mods, re-installing latest graphics driver, running windows repair diagnostics using the SFC /scannow method, disabled game bar, repaired and re-installed sims 4 multiple times, repaired and re-installed the EA app multiple times, the 50/50 method with mods cc, direct x9 on/off, closing EA background operation on/off, updating ALL mods and cc) im sure ive tried more than that but thats all i can remember.
Its been 4 days of trying everything....
Im very tired now...
On a personal note, this is likely because of too many baked in files into the game, as we all know EA's The Sims 4 has no competitors and rather than begin to develop a new game they will keep pumping out "DLC" with more complex often game breaking mechanics to the point where no mods work, i have no doubt that submitting this error report i will be told its "my system" thats the issue, when, in actuality its bloated code on a now 11 year old game.
EA dont want you playing with Mods or Cc they want you to buy it from them instead. yesterday i did a complete fresh install of sims 4 which worked ok (1 crash) and i added 1 mod to start the long process of compiling my mods again ( i only have between 20-30) 1st one i installed, Mcc command centre (a notoriously stable mod) and it broke the game so badly i had to uninstall/re-install it again...
any help would be appreciated...
@themountains Please update the BIOS for your computer. You may be several versions behind; I believe this is the driver download page for your model, and it offers version 1.18 rather than your current 1.14:
https://www.dell.com/support/product-details/en-us/product/alienware-aurora-r15-desktop/drivers
But double-check by clicking This Device and entering your service tag.
The reason to update your BIOS is that some of the Sims 4 crashes in your dxdiag are related to an issue with overclocked high-end Intel processors, where the motherboard applies the overclocking settings by default. I wrote out more details here:
https://answers.ea.com/t5/PC/Sims-4-keeps-randomly-crashing/m-p/14382305#M291224
If the BIOS update doesn't help, please disable CPU Turbo Boost, as described in that post.
