Sims 4 crashing badly DURING CAS

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.69.59.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Discover University, Island Living, Get Famous, Seasons, Cats & Dogs, City Living, Get Together, Realm of Magic, Strangerville, Jungle Adventure, Vampires, Spa Day, Moschino Stuff Pack, Vintage Glamour Stuff Pack, Holiday Celebration Pack
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? The bug occurs randomly in CAS. When I restart my computer and game and return to CAS, the bug sometimes happens quicker.
What happens when the bug occurs? I will be in CAS and the game will freeze and crash badly. First graphics will freeze, then audio and finally the cursor. Once it freezes, I am completely unable to use my keyboard to exit the game. Windows button doesn't work, alt-F4 doesn't, I can't reach task manager, nothing. Waiting it out doesn't work either. I have no choice but to force shut down my laptop using the power button which is surely bad for both my pc and my game. Unlike other CAS crashes, this does not occur when exiting CAS, just during using CAS. Repairing game and clearing cache for origin and Sims 4 has not helped. The only mod I've ever had was extreme violence which I deleted about a month or two ago.
What do you expect to see? CAS to not freeze or crash.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

Windows 10, completely up to date. All antivirus up to date as well. Sims 4 and origin up to date. Bug has been happening for months now with no patches or updates helping. I have been trying for ages to fix this but I can't figure it out! Please help me, thanks!

  • Hi @catbtch

Could you please post the following info

    1. Your Computer's DxDiag
    2. If you have, the following file: Documents\electronic arts\the sims 4\lastcrash.txt
    3. The following file: Documents\electronic arts\the sims 4\config.log

You can upload DxDiag and config.log directly to your post.

For any lastCrash files, either create a rar file and upload that or copy/paste the content of the file to a post inside spoiler tags (the icon next to the strike-through)

Hi Crin, sorry for the very delayed reply! On the day that I posted here I had spent a couple hours trying to solve my Sims crashing, during which I had to force shut down my laptop about four times. Unfortunately, I think this crash actually broke my computer - just a day later, my pc would not turn on or charge (I have never had issues with my pc and it's only a year old). I have only just received my laptop back after having to have the motherboard replaced. As all my data is gone, I can't post the DxDiag or any files. I'm in the process of downloading all my Sims games again - I'll let you know if I still experience the same crash. I worry that if I do I will have to stop playing Sims as I don't want to risk having another motherboard die. ☹️

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

@catbtch Guess it's a question of what was first, the motherboard dying or the game crashing. I really don't think the game crashing should cause severe damage to the motherboard.

Let me know how it goes and we'll take it from there.
