Sims 4 Freezes (ATI Display Driver Stopped...)

    I know it's been awhile, but to all who may have a similar problem, I was using a cheap (come to find out) extension ribbon for my graphics card.

    I recently reassembled my desktop into a case and all my games started working again. The only difference was the ribbon. I took that sucker and threw it away after writing a scathing review on Amazon.

    The game now plays on ultra at 50+ FPS.

Graphic drivers updated this month
I have 16GB of RAM.
I have Windows 7 (64bit).
I have a 3.9 GHz processor with OC capabilities

Are these really not enough?

Hi @aruane3 I just meant that I'd try freeing up at least 3 - 5 GB first, (as a measure, for EA Mai's mention of space regarding 'saves and cc / mods')

nb: you could also try changing the 'graphics quality' to a lower setting in game options, to see if it makes a difference?  (ie: short term fix)

    I have two drives - my solid state boot drive for Windows and my my main drive (2 1TB drives in raid) where the game is installed with 350GB free.

      Hi again @aruane3@crinrict is pretty good deciphering the dx diag so hopefully, he'll notice soon (having now tagged him). As I don't want to confuse the matter, but I'd try the in game graphics as a 'short term' thing, just to see.

      nb: I have a 'free app/utility' to double check video cards etc, called TechPowerUp GPU-Z that gives in-depth information about your installed graphics card etc.
