Sims 4 Game Error – Blacked Out Sims, Script Failures, and Lag (No Mods)

I’m experiencing persistent issues in The Sims 4 with no mods or custom content installed. All created Sims appear completely black with grey hair. Editing them in CAS does not fix their appearance. The game lags heavily during normal gameplay. “Script Call Failed” error occurs when interacting with items like the whiteboard. These problems happen in all saves and even new households. I’ve attached screenshots from CAS showing the issue with the Sims' appearance. Steps I’ve Taken to Troubleshoot: No mods or CC installed Updated graphics drivers (Game Ready Driver 576.88 – July 2025) Repaired the game using the EA App Uninstalled and reinstalled the game Verified that my system meets and exceeds requirements System Specs: OS: Windows 11 (Version 10.0.26100) Processor: 12th Gen Intel Core i9-12900H RAM: 64 GB Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Laptop GPU, 8GB GDDR6 Storage: 1.9 TB SSD DirectX: Version 12 Additional Notes: The issue began after the latest update in July 2025. The game functioned normally before that. It appears to be patch-related.

    Please use those threads.

For the lag, let me know how the game runs in a new save with freshly-made sims on a default EA-made lot, nothing from the Gallery or your own library.  If you still see lag, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

I'm not saying you need to abandon your current saves, only that this is a useful comparison.

Thank you, I posted in the threads you provided.

I started a new game, new sim, EA lot and after a few hours and still experiencing lag, with an additional issue where every time I travel, I have to choose a season to start in again... I have no idea what is going on.

  • MiaEdt  The prompt to choose a season is yet another known bug:

[S] Stuck on Select Season for several unrelated interaction (1.113.288/2.09) | EA Forums - 11967917

Your dxdiag lists a couple of crashes of Razer's Game Manager Service and of a component of McAfee.  So I would suggest trying to play with the former uninstalled and the latter disabled.  As long as you don't do anything else at the same time (close all browsers, etc.), your computer should be safe.

Another useful test is to play with your computer offline.  You can sign into the EA App and put it in offline mode, then disable wifi and/or disconnect the ethernet cable before pressing Play.  Even if you wouldn't want to play like this, knowing the result would be helpful.

I will say though that if the game only lags after a few hours, AND if saving/quitting/reloading fixes it, at least for a while, you're getting better results than a lot of players.  Sometimes lag seemingly comes out of nowhere, probably when the game is tripping over something in the background that you never see.  So let me know whether the lag resolves, either on its own or when you reload the game.
