Sims 4: Household Bug

Hello,

I have experienced a bug and I was wondering if anyone knows how to fix it.

I have the Sims 4 with both Get to Work and Cats & Dogs installed. My household consists of 4 human sims and 1 cat.
When I traveled to work with my sim in the scientist career and came back home, I found that my cat had disappeared from the house and from my sim selector in the hud, then later found out it had essentially moved out.

How can I prevent this bug from happening in the future?

    Do you have any mods or custom content (CC) in your game? Could you test without?
    You can just move the folder to a location outside the Electronic Arts folder.
    If the game works without your CC and mods in, your issue is probably caused by a broken mod or CC.

    If it still doesn't work I suggest taking out half of your mods and CC and testing the game. Then keep splitting until you find all that is broken.
    Either update or remove the broken CC/mods.

    Sorry, I also meant to include the fact that I have tested it without mods or CC and the problem still occurs.

    Hm, I'm not sure if it's a bug. Did the cat run away before? Cats in real life sometimes move house as well.

    I don't think it ran away. All my doors leading outside were locked for cats. Plus I knew the cat was moved out permanently when I was able to call it on the phone and invite it over to visit.  And I think I read once that pets who run away don't get taken out of your sim selector hud.
