Sims 4 not launching last minute

My game recently started not starting when I attempt to open it through my desktop, steam, or computer files. I'm not very knowledgeable on computers so I don't know what would cause this problem.

My game says its starting through steam and then says EA is preparing the game. It stays on that loading screen for about 30 seconds then it stops. Previously when opening the game it would load after that but now it just disappears and the game 'closes'.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the game and now I don't have a Mods folder within my Sims 4 folder. That's less of an issue I think because I've seen that those folders are meant to appear when the game opens so my main concern is opening the game.

This has happened to me before but uninstalling always worked.

Please help if its possible!!!!

  • iNteresting_iN3  Do you still need help?  If so, and you haven't already, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If that doesn't or didn't help, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
