@FairClarity As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder. Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content. (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.) Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.
If this doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

@thugluscious Are you saying you tried the clean user folder? If not, please try it now. Uninstalling the game's program files wouldn't remove this folder.
If this doesn't or didn't help, please post a dxdiag, as described.

yes i tried a clean user file and was still inable to utilize game but for me I'm not sure if the same for the original poster but my ea app confuses that the game is already open and refuses to start. I've uninstalled deleted my file everything possible and still no solve.

Nope, it did not work. It's just sitting here doing the same thing as it was doing before.

@FairClarity Then I would like to see a dxdiag. Please attach one to a reply in this thread.

Update:
I didn't do the dxdiag, but I stopped playing Sims for like a week or two then I tried to get on (with my original Sims 4 game with all my saves out of the Electronic Arts Folder, which started a new folder) I got on, and it actually got into the game. So I got off, deleted the new folder and put the old folder back in the EA folder. Then got back on the game, and it was fixed.
I have no idea why it was fixed, but it was.
- 2 years ago@puzzlezaddict Thank you! This worked for me

I moved my sims 4 file before uninstalling and the game would open with a empty folder

@Purple_Panther16 Then you need to put the folder back, or at least the files you want to preserve. Keep in mind that one or more of your mods or custom content items may be broken, so test those first before transferring your saves.
If you need more help with this process, please let me know what you're trying to do and what happens instead of what you want.

thank you that helped it ended up being something in one of my mods folders that was preventing my game from opening up

Hi I was having the same issue and removing the folder helped but would I have to just start over or is there a way I can get my saves back?

@KenzieWhite08 You can move your saves to the new Sims 4 folder, along with the Tray files (saved household sand builds), plus Screenshots and Recorded Videos if you care about those. It's best to move the files, not the folder they're in.
If you have mods or custom contnet you want to keep using, test those first, in the new folder, and discard any that prevent the game from working. If you have a lot of files to sort through, the 50/50 method can make the process much more efficient:

Hi! I know this is old but this worked for me and everything opens but how do I get my saved games back and my mods if anyone knows? Or will they eventually just come back? Maybe this is a really obvious fix but I have no idea about computers.
