SIMS 4 Stuck Between Build and Live Modes - Need Help!

My Sims 4 game unexpectedly froze during the transition between build and live modes. While I can click on objects and even move them in build mode, the menu interactions have no effect, preventing me from returning to live mode or saving the game. I tried using alt+f4, but it didn't work. Has anyone experienced this issue or knows of any solutions? I've been playing for 5 hours and really need help! :’(

    @ThatsLush18  Please test with no mods or custom content, as in, move the Mods folder to the desktop.  You don't need to save your progress.

    @PrinceHugh  Is this a one-time issue or a regular problem?  Alt-F4 can help some of the time, but this is happening regularly, the underlying cause should be addressed.  In that case, let me know how often it happens, and if you use mods or custom content, whether this happens with your Mods folder entirely removed.

    This keeps happening to me too! I've restarted and repaired my game as well as restarted my laptop. I have some mods and CC but I've never had this happen until tonight and haven't added anything new. I just got the horse ranch pack, don't think that would cause it though. *shrug*
