When I start a game in goes to the live mode. The screen blinks white three times. After that the screen is permanently white and I can no longer close the game and have to restart my computer. I don’t even have any mods installed.

or put the laptop in night mode before trying to play.
If that doesn't help, or you have a different computer, please provide a dxdiag. Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop. From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
