adriannajam Is this without Sims 4 installed directly on your computer? I ask because your laptop barely has room for the Sims 4 base game, in fact I wouldn't suggest installing it without clearing a lot more space. That may be the reason for the slow download too, especially if you're trying to install the packs at the same time as the base game. I can't be sure without testing, but see whether clearing another 10-15 GB of space (you're at 28.4 free right now) and installing only the base game on the external makes the process faster and keeps it from erroring out. You can install your DLC afterwards.
Your dxdiag also shows some system errors that can be due to a deadlock or other heavy use and can cause performance issues. So if these are happening while you're trying to install Sims 4, that would explain what you're seeing if not necessarily why—the error itself is not specific to any particular cause.
