maxxejersak Does it help to switch to DirectX 11 mode? The game should default to DX11 mode now, but if you've told it to launch in DX9 mode in the EA App, under Sims 4 > Manage > View properties, remove the command. If you've selected DX9 in the game options, remove Options.ini from Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.
If that doesn't help, please try changing the two settings listed in this post from bibliomak:
Sims 4 Crashing/Freezing/Lag, Surface Pro 3/7 | EA Forums - 11836525
These settings usually cause a different issue, as you can see from the thread overall, but you do have an affected model Surface, and the "failed to launch game" error is pretty generic at this point, so it's worth trying just to see what happens.
If that doesn't help either, please try playing with your computer offline. You can sign into the EA App and put it in offline mode, then disable wifi and/or disconnect the ethernet cable before pressing Play.
paperbagkid Are you saying that removing your Mods folder DID work? If that's the case, you'll need to sort through your mods and cc. If it did NOT work, please provide a dxdiag.
shybria Did you try my suggestion earlier in the thread?
Sims 4 won’t open: Ea App Error | EA Forums - 12527838
If not, please do so now, and if it doesn't or didn't help, please provide a dxdiag.
