Sims 4 Wont Launch

Installed Sims 4 on a computer that is perfectly capable of running it. Every time I click play. The EA app disappears, the screen goes black and then its right back to desktop with the EA app right where it was. Almost like when you open the game but then turn around and close it.

The game is installed on a D: drive under a folder called EA since i know the install files basically need to be one folder deep. Even tried it without being in the EA file too. The EA folder pops up in the Documents but its definitely missing some files like the game hasnt been launched properly. No mods or CC is installed. I've removed the EA folder from the Documents drive, and spawned a new one. Same issue. Uninstalled and reinstalled the game four times now. Tried repairing the game. Nothing.

The path that it's under is exactly the same path i have on another computer and that computer works perfectly fine.

Im out of ideas.

Here is the dxdiag file too

  • There are actually important folders that are used in your C: drive.

Could you check in there and see if there are missing folders in the Program Files?

Also there could be problems like corruption inside of the folders that manages the Sims 4. and even a issue like a mod.

LastException files might show some information.

  • There are no mods. Its a completely fresh install. EA isnt even installed on the C drive from what i can tell.

Theres no LE files either. You can't even get into the game. It launches and then immediately quits. Theres no actual launch.

    Okay, that's good to know.

Sometimes uninstalling the application won't work because the app is programmed to only remove certain files from your computer, marked as to uninstall.

There is a "Repair" feature integrated when you uninstall the EA app. When you run the uninstaller for EA, there is a button that says if you want to repair it. That will scan and fix  for any corrupted or missing files, and/or problems with your game.

Do you have any other ideas that would help? I had tried repairing and my game is still not responsive.

  • @WitchWithTude14  Your dxdiag doesn't list any Sims 4-related issues, just a number of generic Windows update errors.  It's a good idea to clean those up, so please run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

Try again to play, and if you can't, please let me know what antivirus you use and whether OneDrive is running on this computer.  Please also look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent attempt to launch Sims 4, specifically after you've done the steps I listed.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

@samwis0806  Are you having the same issue or a different one?  If you're getting an error at any point, please post a screenshot.

@IVXXVIZ  You need to choose the version of PowerShell or Windows Terminal with (Administrator) in the name.  There are two versions.

I'm having the same problem. I restarted with a new folder and no mods. The game closes immediately after starting. Most of the time it doesn't even get to the main menu. I've done those steps too, and it didn't work. Here's my dxdiag.
