Sims are not editable in CAS. Sim and objects are not clickable in Live mode.

As the title states, my sims are uneditable in CAS. I can change their name, traits, and other things on the left just fine, but the sims themselves are not clickable. I have tried using the cas.fulleditmode cheat, and it still doesn't work. I have tried this on a new save and on a previous one, and it's the same issue. 

I was going to just let this go, so I downloaded a sim from the gallery and entered live mode. This brought up a new issue where the sim itself is unclickable, and all objects are also unclickable. This means I cannot complete the event because I cannot click things and tell her what to do. When I enter build mode, I also cannot drag anything or build, the object stays at the top left of the lot in red. 

I've never had an issue like this in all my years of gaming and modding in the Sims 4. I currently have no mods installed and wanted to finish this event on an unmodded save, so I don't have to update them all. I have repaired the game. I have also uninstalled and installed the game and all my packs, and the issue is still happening. 

Please let me know if anyone else has had this issue and if you have any tips to fix it. I am at a loss, so I am here begging for help to finish the event. Let me know if you need any more information as well. Thank you so much in advance.
