Sims Freeze for Hours & Infant Milestones Won’t Complete (Post Patch)

No mods pc

ssue 1 — Sims Freezing:

  • Sims randomly freeze for hours of in-game time.
  • Time passes and needs decay, but they won’t respond to commands.
  • Canceling tasks doesn’t work. Only way to fix is exiting and reloading the game.
  • Happens every ~30 minutes of gameplay, even on new saves.

Issue 2 — Infant Milestones:

  • Infants get stuck trying to reach milestones (especially “lift head”).
  • The milestone sparkle appears, but it never completes after many attempts.
  • Also, the playmat causes Sims to repeatedly queue and cancel “put baby down” actions, creating a constant swishing noise.

Steps to Reproduce:

  • Play normally for ~30 minutes.
  • Sims may freeze.
  • Try infant milestones and use the playmat.

Expected Result:

  • Sims act normally, milestones complete, no action loops.

Actual Result:

  • Sims freeze, milestones never complete, actions loop with noise.

Tested on new save & no mods—issue still occurs.

Time/Sim freezes while environment still moves | EA Forums - 11885395

If so, please use that bug report.  If not, let me know whether it happens with no toddlers or younger in the household at all.

There have been a number of issues reported with milestones, for example this:

For the playmat, please remove it and see what changes, if anything.

I experience the same bug regarding Sim freezing. It is not the bug mentioned (11885395), as

    • Sims don't respond to commands, standing around doing nothing

This occurs even with single adult Sim in the household.

  • angelikaa13  If you use mods or custom content, please move your Mods folder to the desktop and test again.  You don't need to save your progress.

If that doesn't help, move the affected sim to a default EA-made lot, nothing from the Gallery or your own library, and see whether performance improves.  You don't have to save here either.

If that also doesn't help, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.  Don't use any sims or lots from the Gallery or your library.
