Steam not Launching Sims 4

every time I try to launch sims 4 from steam, I get this error message.

I don't want to just go directly through the launcher because i bought the deluxe edition on steam.

I've already tried using origins to launch it but it just tells me to download the EA launcher and deletes origins.

any help would be appreciated and thenks in advance.

  • Are you online in Steam and EaApp?

The only way my Sims 4 will open is if both Steam and EaApp is online.
  • I got to thinking after posting my reply.
When EA forced the EA Desktop for download and install, I of course opened Steam when their deed was done, and it began to download The Sims 4 as though it had never been installed. I let it go, stayed online, clicked the "Play" button and it launched the game. of course EA Desktop was online and launched.
Verifying the Sims 4 files did not work for launching the game.

I sure hope this is helpful.

The Sims 4 is the only game with this behavior since the forced EA APP. I think the app is still in beta so the offline feature will not work on this game since the forced EA App install. I have tones of other games on Steam and they all launch as they should. The Sims 4 does not, because it is not linking to EA App to launch the game when Steam is offline.
  • Only way I found as a workaround to this craptastic EA app is to close it and reinstall Origins app. After it is reinstalled, follow the instructions that are summarized on this page:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Origin-Client-Web-Technical/Why-am-I-getting-forced-to-install-EA-App/m-p/...

Once you do all that, run ORIGINS first and make sure everything is updated and from then on whenever you want to run it offline make sure Origins is opened FIRST before you run it with that or Steam. So far, that has been one of the few ways I've found that works for me.

    Sorry to hear this.

When will Steam app be able to launch SIMS 4 in offline mode? Steam refuse to help with this issue and tell me this is fault at EA's end, so when can we over here on Steam with over a thousand dollars of game installed, expect a fix?

  • The fault is with EA and not Steam. If you reinstall Origin after EA and do the steps to remove the EA app popup, after a few playthroughs with Origin up first, it should stop pulling up the EA app. In fact you can still go offline mode under Origin for Steam. This offline mode issue with the EA app is not only for Sims 4, but with the other games as well.

As for a fix, I they don't have one available. I asked with my cases and it went from "the game teams are looking into it" to "no fix available" to "closed". Unless the offline issue is causing problems that are big enough for EA to actually take action in a way that hurts their bottom line, they won't care in the slightest.

Their bottom line will be affected when they try to launch SIMS 5 and we don't buy it due to having received no customer service with our SIMS 4 game.

Oh what a surprise, still no help or even a response from the sims team.
