Steam Sims 4 Not Launching After New Update

Ok it seems I'm not the only one with this problem, great. So here's a description of what I've been dealing with and then a list of all the fixes I've already tried.

So my operating system is linux, not windows, just a sidenote. I stopped playing after the black photo bug started appearing and I was planning on playing again yesterday but the game won't open. I've already updated all my mods, including getting rid of all the old ones. I press "play" in steam, it says "loading" and then after 10 seconds it goes back to the "play" button as if I never pressed it. I do not have the new EP, the most recent EP I got was Business & Hobbies. 

  1. I tried verifying game files, didn't work
  2. I tried removing the mod files entirely and then verifying game files, didn't work
  3. I tried restarting my computer multiple times, didn't work
  4. I removed cache and verified game files, didn't work
  5. I removed notify.glob file because I was told by forums to do this, did not work (moved it to trash so it is retrievable)
  6. I deleted GameVersion.txt file and verified game files, didn't work (some forum responses said to do this, I moved it to trash so it's still retrievable)
  7. I uninstalled the game on steam, and reinstalled it (already backed up my saves) and now the files of the game looks like this (attached below), which it didn't before I uninstalled it, this also didn't work
  8. I had it set to "-dx11" as the launch option because of a previous issue with launching it which that fixed (was linux related), so I removed the "-dx11" and that still did not fix the issue after verifying game files (I've since put the "-dx11" back)]

Thanks for any and all help! It's ironic that when I get the Sims 4 itch after like a month it decides it doesn't want to work lmao

    Some other things I've tried/discovered after looking through the thread linked below that was recommended to me:

    1. Tried launching EA App through the Lutris app, it either says it needs to install and update, which I press ok for, and it fails to install. Or it tries to open and then crashes and asks me to restart the app and does that in a loop. Here are the error messages I found from when it was trying to open: 

    • ERROR: ld.so: object 'libgamemodeauto.so.0' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded (wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64): ignored. (this happened twice in a row)

    • info: OpenVR: could not open registry key, status 2

    • info: OpenVR: Failed to locate module (happend right after one above)

    I downloaded protontricks, however, the app needs me to open the EA app or Sims 4 in order to work / open at all which I can't do, so....

    Ok so I downloaded the EA app AGAIN with Lutris and was able to actually launch it! Yay! Ok literally as I was typing that out it crashed ;-; I'm restarting it and it launched again and it keeps crashing after a couple seconds of being open, great. However, it does get farther then the other one so I might be able to launch protontricks now? I'll see

    Nope protontricks does not even recognize it as open!

    Rosabella5142​  I'm sorry, but I don't know what else to suggest here.  I don't use any flavor of Linux myself, so I can only go by what other players post, and you've already covered everything I'd have thought to suggest.  You might have more success on Reddit in a forum specific to whatever distro you're running.
