Stuck on first loading screen, AGAIN

The first time it happened and posted asking here and got it fixed by deleting and reinstalling the EA app. it has been a couple of weeks of opening up the game and some days are fine some days it got stuck on the first loading screen.

(I even went to Nvidia control panel in the 3d settings, even run it from the Geforce experience so it'll use the GPU. Somehow that worked.)

Today. I've done a number of troubleshooting and nothing has worked.

Here's the dxdiag, if it helps. ☹️

PS. its working offline as always and i went offline to turn off the edge smoothing, still stuck on the loading screen. ☹️

New save also doesn't get me to the main menu online but offline does work.

  • @great797  If you use a third-party anvirus, or Windows Defender's Controlled Folder Access, please set an exception for TS4_DX9_x64.exe, the game's new executable for the default DirectX 9 version.  You're definitely using DX9; I can see that the errors in your dxdiag.

Razer Synapse is also crashing repeatedly, so I'd suggest uninstalling it for now.  You can reinstall it later if you want, but please don't until Sims 4 is working properly.

On the system information, mine says DirectX 12. I’m confused 🤔

oh you meant the ts4 version? Btw I’ve done all you mention still stuck on the loading screen TT

    uninstall Razor Synapse

    i excluded the exes

i don’t know whether I should do them all?

    TS4_X64 / TS4_DX_x64 / TS4_Launcher_x64

(all of these are in steamgames folder)

    TS4 ( in The Sims 4\Game\Bin_LE)

    TS4_x64 ( in The Sims 4\Game\Bin)

don’t know why there are many.

@great797  If you want to be thorough, you can exclude everything in the Bin folder, that is if you haven't already.  The Bin_LE folder is for the old Legacy Edition and can be ignored—you wouldn't be able to run it if you tried.

The DirectX runtime libraries are Microsoft-created sets of resources for graphics-intensive applications (like games) to use.  Instead of making a game compatible with every set of hardware out there, the game and the hardware are both made compatible with some DirectX version.  DirectX 12 is standard now and comes installed with Windows 10 and 11, but Windows can and will run earlier versions too.  So older games built on, say, DX9 (as Sims 4 was originally) will still run on modern hardware.

Anyway, please try playing in a clean boot:

The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to run.  Disable the rest as described.

When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down any service that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example anything from MSI Afterburner to RGB software might still be enabled.  If you accidentally kill a critical process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.

Don't open anything other than Sims 4 and the EA App while testing, not even a browser window.

If that doesn't help either, please post a new dxdiag.

@puzzlezaddict i'll get back to you when it's not working. It just started working out of no apparent reason again.

This is so weird. I haven't changed anything from the last time. 😞

  • mine too its been 3 days now. it randomly worked after i introduced it a new troubleshooting but had to restart it many times. ☹️ neither antivirus nor one drive is enabled, i dont even have one drive. @puzzlezaddict

    EDIT: AND It's back! XD

@great797  I moved your new post to your older thread to keep the info in one place.  Do you need any more help?  If so, let me know whether the game currently works in a clean user folder, with no content added at all (no saves, no mods, no Gallery downloads, etc.), and we can go from there.

Please also let me know whether the game works when your computer is entirely offline.

Im not so sure. What i did was, took out the mods and kept repairing the EA app and restarted my pc. But it didn't work. Then I gave up and played offline for a bit, saved, then just yesterday after doing a normal opening up a game from Steam there was an unusual error message box came up that i was too fed up to read and didn't remember what it was, clicked the confirm button then it is back working again. And I had downloaded something off of the Gallery before it became like this. But it's still there when I played offline. And no it didn't work in clean user folder, only in offline mode that I'm able to play "normally", @puzzlezaddict

@great797  The question about any Gallery downloads was only about whether a given save didn't work with content added.  Some Gallery lots are causing crashes or infinite loading, so it's important to test without them.

If the game is still only working in offline mode, can you set your phone as a mobile hotspot and connect your computer to that?  Make sure the phone is using data, not your home wifi.  The idea here is to see whether the problem is the computer or the connection.  You shouldn't actually use much data this way, just enough for Steam, the EA App, and Sims 4 to connect; you can quit as soon as you see the results.

If that doesn't help, or you can't use your phone as a hotspot, please create a new admin Windows account and try playing there.  Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account.  You'll be able to launch Sims 4 without reinstalling anything.  This should distinguish between issues with your main Windows account and more global problems.
