Solved

The game won't launch.

When I try to launch the game on Steam, the EA app says “preparing game” but then nothing happens. The game won't launch. I need help for fixing this problem.

  • zippabag  Your C drive is almost completely full, which could be the source of this error.  Please try to clear as much space as you can, ideally at least 25 GB.  I realize that's difficult with such a small drive, but you do have some space on E, so you could uninstall some apps and reinstall them there.

When you've cleared as much space as possible, let me know how much that is and whether Sims 4 works.

  • zippabag  Please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If you still can't play, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
