The game wont launch on Steam Deck

Same issue. Attempted full reinstall and no luck. Digging in files seems pointless. 

I went as far as ripping out everything EA related in compat files. But even after reinstalling the EA app it did not fix itself. 

This is most certainly an EA issue, As neither steam Nor the sims 4 updated in between me being able to play and being locked out entirely. 

I started playing sims 4 on my steam deck october last year. Everything worked fine, I could even mod it. Until this latest update. now, sims 4 won't open AT ALL. Linux won't help, they say to talk to EA before you guys start.

Of course, another updats causes the whole freaking game to collapse. Shocker. But I'm so annoyed! I've done pretty much all I can do, i just spent so much money on buying some packs as well and it was all wasted. 

Its bad enough that you don't allow DLC's to be carried over if you buy them on xbox and move to PC. But now I can't even play the stupid game because EA is all sorts of bugged and won't load up to launch the sims. FIGURE THIS CRAP OUT!! IM SO SICK OF THIS!

I think  Kleeways is 100% right about Steam, but considering how large Steam is, I think it'd be good for EA to collaborate with Steam in trying to keep the EA App compatible with their Linux version.

I can only think of 1 explanation; the EA app uses software made by a third party and the other company updated their DLLs OR it's because Microsoft updated their SDKs, including .NET, around January 13 and it took EA a few days to update their software with the new functions...

So Steam needs to update their software to accommodate the new DLLs, it'll probably be a few days...  either because Steam's programmer is swamped or their policy is to only respond to complaints and never preemptively update.  😒

The only POSSIBLE solution I can think of is "Wine HQ".  The source code, that I've read (only DirectX stuff), is almost flawless.  😂
They basically rewrote all of the functions and turn it into Linux, so when the app runs a command, it's calling the same function, but through Linux.
You SHOULD be able to install Wine HQ in Desktop Mode.

I can't think of anything else.  Sorry that happened.  Good luck.

Also having this issue, just got my SteamDeck for Christmas and was enjoying sims4 a lot until it broke 😔 Almost purchased new packs but right now glad I didn’t yet

It won't launch in Steam Deck, I also have 0 mods and EA is working for my other games. 

I followed these steps and Sims worked again within 10 min! And I experienced the same issues for days
