THE SIMS 4 CAUSING MULTIPLE CRASH PROBLEMS

Hi!

Lately a lot of times when I load my game, my computer freezes and shows the blue screen with so far 3 different codes:

  • irql_not_less_or_equal
  • page fault in nonpaged area and
  • Kmode Exception not handled

I checked what these codes mean, but I have no idea how to interpret them. I don`t know anything about computers. For a while it was just the page fault in nonpaged area, then it started showing irql one and today the Kmode Exception one. I have no idea what to do. I didn`t do any changes to my computer, any updates or anything, until 10min before writing this post. I updated and cleaned everything with CCleaner, which didn`t help any. Am I reaching when I hope it is just too much cc that my computer can`t handle? I can deal with that, as long as my computer is not dying. My brother is going to check RAM next week, should he do anything else? I read somewhere that in this situation the best way is to reinstall the Windows and build your computer all over again? I have latest version of Windows 11 and I play on laptop. Thanks for any suggestions.

    C:\Windows\Minidump

You will probably also see a MEMORY.dmp file in this Windows folder (not in Minidump), which is a much larger file with extra info that's not usually necessary, but it can be examined too.  If you'd like to do it yourself, you can open and look at the files with WinDbg, a tool from Microsoft:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/debugger/

Run the !analyze command to get some information to start with, and feel free to ask questions.  What you're looking for is a particular driver implicated in the crash, or another explanation that gives you somewhere to start.

If you'd like me to look at your crash dumps, upload the last three or so to a third-party filesharing site and link them here.  You'll need to copy the files where they are and paste them onto your desktop, as they're in a protected folder.  Please zip them together before uploading.

Checking your RAM is a good idea too, although I'd start on the software side (as above) because it's a lot easier to remove and replace a bad driver than a bad memory module.  I don't think you're at the point where you need to consider reinstalling Windows either, and of course that wouldn't help if the problem were in fact on the hardware side.

Thank you so much for this reply. I only saw it today. I will go through steps you suggested and if you are still willing, I will post the files here for you check them up, because I will have no idea what they mean.

Hi! I am sending you a zip file with minidump logs. There was no memory file in the windows folder. I really appreciate you checking them out. Thanks!
