The Sims 4 Stuck on the First Loading Screen

When I opened the game I couldn't access the main menu and got stuck on the first loading screen.

I recently downloaded the new expansion pack (Life and Death) and had been playing the game (on PC) without any problem for about three days. Today I also played the game without any problem but suddenly when I tried to open the game again it wouldn't go pass the first loading screen. I removed all the mods and CC and also fixed the game twice but the problem still exists.

How can I fix this? Do I have to wait for a new update? :(

  • aquafoam704  Please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If you still can't play, please provide a dxdiag.  Hit Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

I will be able to try this solution in a few days, I will let you know the result. Thank you, I really appreciate your help.

puzzlezaddictHi, I tried starting the game after a few days and it seemed to fix itself. I can now access the main menu without any problems, so I guess it might be something with my PC? Anyway, if the issue occurs again, I will try the solution you suggested. Thank you so much.

  • i had the same issue. i ended up having to uninstall and reinstall the game because using a clean folder didn't work.
