Transfering the sims 4 onto an external hard drive

Hi, I can't seem to move my game onto an external hard drive. I have pressed on settings and then downloads to change the location of my game and it says its in my hardrive. However, my game still won't update as it says I don't have enough storage but my hardrive has lots of storage as there isn't anything in it. Just want to note that ea also doesn't give me the option to uninstall the game. If anyone has any suggestions on what to do that would be great.

  • patriciaholly  You need to uninstall the game first, then download it onto the external drive.  Alternately, you can move the files to the external (copy and paste, then delete the internal copy), and tell the EA App to download there.  But simply changing the App's install location doesn't move the game.

If you don't already have Sims 4 installed, how much free and total space is there on your C drive?  And does it help to install only the base game first, then any packs you own afterwards?
