Transferring Files Not Working

Hi,

I usually play The Sims on my partner's laptop; however, for a week or so I won't be able to access that. I have been playing with this specific save file for a long time and would like to continue playing with it on my personal computer. I have attempted to add the files into my own 'saves' game folder with no luck. Does anyone have any idea what I could have done wrong?

Steps I had taken:

  1. Copy files in the 'saves' folder from his computer and email them to myself
  2. Download the files to my computer
  3. Added them into my 'saves' folder
  4. Opened the game with no luck, as the save wasn't there.

Things I have tried:

  • Creating a new save file and pressing 'restore' in the game menu
  • Repairing the game through the EA application
  • Ensuring the files weren't online only (saved to the cloud)
  • Completely clearing the folder of my other saves on this computer and inserting them afterwards
  • Checking that the 'saves' file is the correct one that the game is using

Things to note:

The game files are named Slot_00000003.save.ver0 , Slot_00000003.save.ver1 , Slot00000003.save.ver2 , etc. These are copied from the folder on his laptop exactly as they were written. I'm not sure if I should take away the ver_ or if this is important.

I have no idea what I could be doing wrong but if you have any suggestions please let me know! This is getting super frustrating.

Thank you !

  • elisecymru  Sorry for the late reply, and it's probably not relevant by now, but the game won't read saves with a .verx extension.  These are backups of the main save with the same number, .ver0 being the most recent.  So you'd need to transfer the file that simply ends in .save , or you'd need to strip the .verx extension off one of the backups.
