TS4 or Origin not launching after Microsoft Windows Updates
My TS4 has always worked fine, but recently it stopped launching altogether, either from the desktop icon nor origin. Running as administrator didnt help, nor running in compatibility mode.
I cleaned out the cache's, didn't work. Uninstalled the 'easy' way and 'hard' way both didn't work. I saw on a forum that sometimes updates can get in the way so i uninstalled the most recent ones i could see on my pc. this solved it! But my PC has since force installed them and i can't uninstall them and TS4/Origin has gone back to not working/launching. I tried re-doing all the steps others advised but still to on avail. Has anyone else had any issues with this or know whats happening?
For reference all my other games (non origin/sims) work fine on my laptop, so it's not a graphics issues or a generic issue, is something specifically with sims/windows.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
@g0lding Your VPN or a related process is crashing, a lot, in fact so much so that among the last ten errors in your dxdiag, only one relates to Sims 4 directly. Do you have Avast? If so, try manually updating it—some of the crashes are from the update tool. If you don't have Avast (multiple companies use the same name for some of their .exe files), please search your computer for "VpnUpdate," and look for any instance of VpnUpdate.exe. It should be inside the folder of whatever program is using it; update that program, or uninstall and reinstall it.
If you have Avast or another antivirus program that uses VpnUpdate, please add TS4_x64.exe, TS4.exe, and Origin.exe as exceptions. Please also set Origin to run the 64-bit version of the game, and undo the compatibility settings you've been using.
