Um, What Will Happen If I Link My Steam Account With the EA app?

I'm curious because Origin and Steam were acting up for me (origin went blank and steam kept deleting my saves) and as a result to that, I decided to uninstall them, but I didn't realize that my dlcs on Steam would not transfer over (I had originally thought that if I had linked my Steam and my Origin account together that it would somehow, surely, transfer over to the EA app, but unfortunately I guess that's not an option).

All I see from the EA's app is that the addon section for said game is labeled "Manage on Steam", so I'm curious if I can unlink these two accounts or not (I've heard mixed responses on it, so idk). Do I have to re-purchase them on EA? Will Steam's auto cloud feature effect my documented saves if they're linked? When I unlink, will EA recognize those specific packs from Steam and so I wil no longer need to have Steam itself installed if this said thing is possible?

I really just wanna download my content and play, but I can't find an exact guide or video tut on how to go all about it 😩.

Thanks in advance!

Edit: I'm using Windows 10. My Steam and EA app accounts are updated.

If you unlink Steam from your EA account you will only be able to use content that you have through the EA App. PS: Origin was discontinued long ago.

So once linked up, then I have all access to my packs, but once they're unlinked I don't?

Do you know anything about steam's cloud file when it touches your saves? Will that be a problem for me if I'm playing through ea? I already have my most recent ones saved, I'm just curious if it's able to leak through.

  • omgyamisocringe  You can disable Steam's cloud saving either globally or for a particular game:

I wasn't aware until recently that Steam even supported cloud saving for Sims 4, and I can see how it might not be the best idea to use it.  But as always, your best bet is to make manual backups of your saves, preferably on an external device that's not plugged into your computer most of the time.  That way, you can always restore your data no matter why it disappears.

Understandable. I just found it weird that it even made it's way inside my folder, considering that I never once intentionally used the cloud feature and didn't think much of it when it became known. Like, of the other videos with tutorials on how to manually set that up, I never did, so I'm not sure how I got cursed with this 😅. And with the unfortunate news that I can't even avoid it harming my saves as of yet is quite scary, but yeah, I get it.
