Unrecognized Video Card

A pop up message appears when starting the game into the main menu every time I try to generate a new The Sims 4 folder in my game by deleting (or moving) the old folder in Electronic Arts. It tells me that I have an Unrecognized Video Card. This only happens once and does not affect gameplay. It’s just mildly annoying.

  • I have the same issue and I'm happy that at least one person has the same issue. I have uninstalled the game several times and reinstalled it. I have uninstalled EA app and reinstalled it several times. I have uninstalled Nvidia (clean uninstall) and reinstalled drivers up to the last version because I wasn't sure if it was the last update. I have deleted my monitor in device manager and restarted the computer, I have opened my computer to be sure there are no cables anywhere (since I just cleaned the fans inside a couple weeks ago and you never know). I can't find any other suggestion on Google.

I've included pictures of the message, the weird game version and the Dxdiag if anyone can help please.

I’m also relieved I’m not alone in this. I looked up what I could do on Google to synchronize my Nvidia graphics card with the newly generated game so this stops popping up. It just happens once though. It’s not game breaking for me. The search says to sync The Sims 4 exe file with the dedicated graphics card in graphics settings on my computer settings or to try it in manage 3d settings in my Nvidia control panel (same thing). I tried this and also went back to integrated graphics. Nothing worked.

no solutions but I am having the same problem

  • Ajroyz34 Alexandria0814 bexlovsims Dannakyri  This isn't a real problem.  The game's database can lag behind in adding new GPU device IDs by months or even years, and some IDs never get added at all.  So as long as you're not seeing an actual problem in-game, you can ignore it.

You should only see the message the first time you launch the game OR after you delete Options.ini, in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.  This is the file that contains the flag that you've already seen this message.

Alexandria0814  The version number weirdness is showing up for all of us.  Feel free to post here if it bothers you enough to complain separately:

If any of you is seeing a problem in the game, please describe it.  And please provide a dxdiag if you haven't already.

Thank you. The weird version number doesn't bother me, especially if it is happening to others.
