Video Card Error
Hello!
I am having some issues with my game. I can enter and play my game for a while, however, while traveling or going into CAS, my game will crash then state that it cannot run the sims 4 with the video card in the system [0e6d1221: 1df4e8dc0000012d:912c9c10]. I've been playing on this computer for years and I haven't had any issues. I do have mods/cc, therefore to see if it is a cc issue I take them all out to see if it'll startup, but it still gives me the same error code. The only way to get my game to load up is to restart my computer and even then, after loading the game and playing for a while it still does the same thing. Also, when I open my config.log file it states "Unable to read graphics device parameters. (code: 1)".
I have tried,
- reinstalling the game
-repairing
- reinstalling windows
I have attached my dxdiag for information about my graphics card. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
@Simplybri04 Your dxdiag lists two serious crashes of the graphics driver, or one of them, which would explain the sudden error if these crashes happened in the run of play. Sims 4 should of course be using the Nvidia GPU, and you already have the newest-available driver from Dell, so please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the driver. Here's how:
You can get a fresh copy of the Nvidia driver (dated March 2022) here:
If that doesn't help, try the newest driver from Nvidia, which is more generic than the one from Dell but also much more recent. Go here:
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/
Select GeForce, MX100 series, MX150, Windows 11, and download the Game Ready Driver, dated December 5. Run the installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator." Restart your laptop after installing and before trying to play.
It's possible you'll see an error when trying to install the Nvidia driver, which happens sometimes when a laptop manufacturer blocks drivers from other sources. There's a way around this, but it's not clear that this is necessary at this point.
