Won't let me get past pop ups - has happened 3 times

Hi! Since last week, whenever i've opened my sims 4, it has shown me the pop up ad for the new EP. After that when i click off (x) it leaves me with a darkened screen, unable to do anything else.

It's quite frustrating as i use a lot of time and battery on loading, and cant play it.

I have mods and cc but this has never happened prior to the new loading screen

pinkdirted Please remove your Mods folder and test. You don't need to save your progress.

Additionally, it's best not to play while running from battery, as this will run down the battery quickly and also lower the performance you see. Most laptops are designed to throttle performance to preserve battery life, and these settings may not be reachable by the user.
