I know it's still super early for this project but I reaaaally hope Sims won't stay in this art style. It still feels very cartoony and the hair looks like Sims 4 base game hair so I hope it's all a prototype that isn't going to stay when the game comes out.
The character movement and art style remind me of the clay animated show Gumby. - i_love_frogs_11Rising AdventurerTo be fair, the sims look may and probably will change over time as they make it. As said, those were prototypes and the people are usually the last stage process when creating a sim game because you need everything around them to exist in order for them to add animations
- It looks good so far! Personally I think the animations are a little too over exaggerated though

It's not they are just stand in. - Looks good. I appreciate the information. Still nothing on the issue of open world/neighborhood, or rabbit holes. It looks like the game is still a long way out, so maybe they really haven't decided yet. Maybe the graphics on the multipurpose buildings suggest that they're planning on no rabbit holes (or maybe not ??).
- i_love_frogs_11Rising AdventurerI really hope there is a mix of dense apartment housing and suburban neighborhoods in the base game world(s). I love the idea of apartment complexes with the first floor corner store. It reminds of NYC bodegas attached to apartment buildings. Like I could imagine open APT building having the corner grocery store, one with a bistro, and another with a laundromat. I would love to be able to REALLY create a dense city with TS5. TS4 does not offer anything close to that since alot of it is shells, fixed apartment lots, and no CAW/edit world tool. The concepts look promising is what I shall say. Time will tell how many of these concepts they will actually use and how they will implement them in base game.
- mightyspritesimsRising HotshotThe drawback of showing us stuff so early in the development process is that so many things are not in the final form yet, but people assume it's how they will look... but it is legitimately hard to know what will and what will not resemble the eventual game.
- SerraNolwenSeasoned NoviceThis looks promising so far. Of course, a lot can change and we will have to find out more about the gameplay later, but multi-purpose lots, npc "routines" (if they are not very fixed short loops) and hair customization all sound like cool ideas, plus it looks like open neighborhoods which I really, really want.
I'm not judging esthetics too much yet because so much can change, but I'm actually happy with something more stylized, even if it's a little cartoonish, as it ages a lot better (and makes emotions/reactions more visible in the game). I'll admit the handshake animation variations are fun but also a little strange to me : hopefully "neutral" isn't so slouchy (did they mean low-energy or something?) and all animations don't end up quite as bouncy as these prototypes. I think the bounciness comes from the prototype animations starting from a neutral pose with no transition (and looping), but seeing them, I felt like all the sims were little springy toys XD - The reference in the part of the video showing the hair was a bit concerning. Multi-coloured hair with physics qualities like weight and flow have been available in other games for quite a while. The artist said "we're trying to figure out how to model a wide variety of styles across the broad range of humanity, and unlock options, like flexible colouring". Hopefully they have a look at Black Desert Online, that character creator is crazy.

They also said something about solid block hair, though that must have been about TS4 sims hair. I don't think we are going to have hair with physics in an open world type game with lots of sims.
