The Sims Legacy won't launch after 02/06/2025 update

Hi everyone,

After February 6 update, I still can't launch The Sims Legacy on Ea App. I followed the solutions suggested in a previous thread (Sims 1 Legacy Still not opening despite 2/6 update | EA Forums - 11872708), but unfortunatley, it didn't change anything.

I have already updated my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 drivers to the latest version 572.16 and installed Vulkan SDK (as suggested to me by the consultant on EA Help) but the game still won't start.

Has anyone else experienced this issue after 02/06/2025 update?
Does anyone know if the developers are working on a solution?

  • If you are trying to run the game as I did on a notebook, you may have two graphics cards. In my case, it's an NVIDIA and an integrated AMD Radeaon Graphics card. The game started after updating the integrated graphics card. I keep my fingers crossed that it will work for you too! Good luck!

I have the same issues as well, although I haven't tried to install the Vulkan SDK. How do I do that, or is there a thread on how to do that?

I'm glad I'm not the only one still having issues!

I wrote to EA on EA help. The consultant suggested installing the Vulkan SDK from the LunarG website, but in my case it did not change anything. It continues to display the same message. You can still check if your graphics card is compatible with Vulkan.

Neither Sims 1 legacy nor Sims 2 legacy games will load (downloaded them on Steam as a gift). The icon pops up and I get a message asking if I am happy for it to make changes, for which I answer "Yes", then it disappears without launching.

Attaching my DXDIAG file in the hope a fix can be found.

I also can't get my Sims 3 game to load on this computer. I open it in the EA app, it opens the game launch window and will launch the game but then when I select a town to start a new game in, I get the message "A serious error has occurred while loading 'Sunset Valley.world'. It is strongly recommended that you restart the application." This happens with any world I try to create a new game in, making the game unplayable.

If that solution doesn't work for people, this link might help

    Hi, thanks for responding!
I might have to try this. I saw your post about running the Sims on a NoteBook, and unfortunately, I don't have that. It's probably a graphics card error, and I like to think I'm computer savvy until something like this comes along! I will have to write to EA and probably have them walk me through the process of updating things.

Thanks for your response, and I'm glad you found a solution! :D
