Game Crashing on Startup since 10/18

My game was working fine this morning (October 18), but when I tried to visit a neighbor's town to do a quest, the game crashed. Then it kept crashing, so I gave up on trying for the moment. I set my Sims to "Collect Candy" from the Purple Monsters for the Halloween event (which we all know is strictly timed), but when I went back when I knew the process would be done, the game wouldn't get past the first screen without crashing, saying "Unfortunately, The Sims FreePlay has stopped." I reported the issue to Google, then went on Google Play to see if others were having similar issues (they sometimes use the reviews to do so). Sure enough, I saw at least a dozen reviews that were created or updated to say that the game has not been working since this afternoon.

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S7 and running Android version 6.0.1. I've already tried restarting my phone, clearing the game cache, uninstalling and reinstalling the game, and clearing any active applications at each step. Lots of people on lots of phones/versions of Android are having this problem, so where is the official response? Don't tell me to go to Firemonkeys support, it's absolutely god awful and I've never had them give me any actual answers or help even after weeks of waiting and trying to explain to them that the issue was on THEIR end.
