Pool Cleaner Causing Crash

Every time I try to access a house that contains a pool cleaner, my game crashes.  It takes a few tries to get the game restarted, and when I do, all of my sims will be idle, no matter what tasks they were engaged in -- including work shifts, which will register as being done, but I won't get paid.  This started in the early hours of October 28.  The game crashed again a few hours later when I  logged in to start the Haunting of Goth House Craft Challenge.  I was unable to access the event tab for the entirety of that event.  Now that the next Craft Challenge has started, I'm still unable to access the event tab.  

I have force quit the game and restarted it.  I have force quit all currently open apps and restarted just the game.  I have powered down my device (iPad Mini 6) and turned it back on.  I have removed the app from my device and reloaded it.  I have 80GB of open storage.  A look at the data analytics shows bug type 309.  Both the game and the iOS are running the latest version.

I've gone back and forth with EA Help through the app, mainly having bots tell me to do all of the things I had already done.  Finally, what I believe might be an actual person told me to report it on the EA Forums in the hope that if enough other people were having this problem, EA might fix it.
