Blocking Other Player's Sims & Messages

Question

How does it work? I tried it on a couple annoying people, but now it says they're on one of my Sim's favorites and contacts list. Why??

Also, I randomly got a message inviting me to enter someone's code because supposedly our Sims had 'synergy', is that normal? Even when I haven't given my friend code out or connected with IRL friends? Or is it spam, and how did they manage to message me?

I dismissed the message, assuming that I could see it again later, but it's gone now.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I've been confused about that feature since Day 1. I thought the game was telling me someone else struck up a relationship with one of my Sims, so add the user as a friend so I could see the relationship progress.

So I agreed and tapped. That's when it said "Friend request sent" or something, and then I just about had a fit. I did NOT want to initiate that add, and it embarrassed me that the game kind of railroaded me into that position.

However, I do get notices when a friend user's Sim meets another relationship milestone with one of my Sims, and I collect rewards for it, too. I'm assuming my friends get the same kinds of notices when my Sims reach a new level with their Sims.

I really like that kind of exchange and welcome it wholeheartedly. It's just the uninitiated thing I don't understand, so I usually ignore those requests.

Why be embarrassed?The sims just keep on living their life while you ain’t playing, and then maybe they find another sim they like and the game thinks it’s a match (synergy-spark) and suggest it to you. I do think the other sim gets an equal notice.&nbsp;Then it’s up to you if you want to send a friend request or not.

Yeah, that's the thing, if it's a Server-side/Game generated prompt then they should word it better, or have a disclaimer that it will send a friend request. Because as it is currently, it reads like spam from other players. I was just like, Who is this person and how can I get them to stop? Something like 'Here's a neighbor suggestion!'.

And, there really should be a way to turn those off if you want to.

So, on to the other half of my problem, why are Blocked players sims in my sims contacts/favorites list? If you block someone, they should sever the ties if any of your sims from theirs.

I think those are just sims that the AI is suggesting. &nbsp;I understand something like this in the first few levels, while you are learning the game, but I wish they would stop. &nbsp;Especially now that my friend list has been full for months. &nbsp;I don't think the other player had any input on asking you to send a friend request.&nbsp;

@arraks1 Hm. I never thought of that at all, but that makes total sense to me.

—I suppose I get embarrassed because I have no particular motivation for the uninitiated request, so it feels obnoxious. When I send a friend request, it's because I like a house, a Sim, I've met someone on the forum here...good intentions. All that sounds wacky now that I'm reading what I just wrote! But it's true.
