Why can't I earn any more tokens but it says there's still 19 hours left?

With the ongoing technical issues I have been experiencing I'm surprised to have gotten so far in the showdown, I have really grinded the heck out this game. I only have 5 boxes to go, this is so frustrating.

It'd be cool if there was an option to do something like "exchange currency" and turn the excess sweet treat tokens into the much needed royal tokens.
