- hi, can we please try playing a server where these things are not permitted? have any of you ever tried playing the original version of this game as it was intended to be? many features of your scripts or whatever you call this stuff do seem to be useful but why would they not just be included into the stock version of this game like the simulator was? i did not use a simulator until it became an added feature and i truly believe i benefitted greatly from taking the time to discover how the attack mechanics work and i found many small advantages can be used by learning them from making mistakes or trying difficult things such as creating mismatches luring or stalling defenses and unit stacking. these addons seem to make every aspect of this game easier and give a noticeable advantage to those using them especially layout searching, target evaluation, pvp damage repair while offline, forgotten attack wave resistance. so much so that it has vanished the competitive environment that this game once had right out of existence. while i do commend your work here with these scripts, addons, cheats or whatever they can be called, i must also say that it has as much eroded the environment for some as it has stabilized it for others. that is to say those that use it win and those that do not, do not. and this has become quite evident in every server for the past couple years now. a lot of work clearly goes into making things easier for players but taken from a different perspective strong men make peaceful times peaceful times make weak men, weak men make hard times, hard times make strong men. it is in fact the difficulty that really builds skill and now everyone using these scripts and winning with them claim to be the best when in fact there is little to no challenge even being presented to them in this game anymore. try one without the scripts and lets see who is the best for real. take away the advantages of all the mass cooperation such as multiple badges awarded per server and see who is really the best.
- nefrontheone3 years agoSeasoned AcePlease, don't force anyone to use the enhancement tools that have been developed for the game.
If not using these improvements becomes a disadvantage for the player who not uses them, let it be his own decision, a choice made by him, of his own free will and being responsible for the consequences that this will bring him in the future of the game.
Also a warning to those who use tools that offer them improvements and then are such bad people that they do not share them with their peers and other players, we will shoot you.

OH! And one thing that I forgot, I want to thank everyone who has dedicated their time and effort in making these tools so that we can enjoy the game even more. Thank you! "nefrontheone;c-2219387" wrote:

a new and exciting environment was introduced to me a little over 10.5 years ago, this environment has been evolving and changing the entire time. early in the stages of these changes certain players obtained tools that allowed them to gain advantages. the different development teams in charge of this environment over the years have decided which of these advantages were to be allowed or not, some have been integrated into the game itself "flunik". it is precisely because of the "consequences" that players face not using these tools, whether by "free will" or the absence of "choice" that i point out the "responsibility" the development teams have to ensure a stable and fair environment and to hold accountability for "disadvantages" regular and new players face when exposed to those that have the knowledge and are in possession of said "tools". thus, whilst i agree with much of your sentiment, I must ask for a chance to play in a fair environment where such tools may be more regulated, integrated or banned altogether in. and i challenge anyone to compare the health of current and proposed environments. thankyou for your time.- I think it would be great if there was a world where the tools & scripts simply didn't work! It is in the power of the developers to change that although given the skills of some of the script writers it may not take them long before new scripts come along.
I recognise that the scripts represent a lot of investment in time and energy to develop and to maintain them each time a major change is made. But still think one world where none of them work and you can only do what is in the bare game would make for a successful world and maybe a less acrimonious World Championship server! - The SoO scripts are ace ;-) always a big thankyou to the guys that develop or maintain them.
For those that mention script advantage or disadvantage it should be noted that the scripts provided in the SoO pack are free to all and so anybody can use them. So really if guys take the few minutes to install then there is no advantage as all can have the same scripts "free".
HOWEVER, there were guys (i won't mention names) in the past that would charge a fee (not free) for any that wished to use "their" scripts. I would agree that such scripts should not be allowed to be used in what is supposed to be a free game. A free game should be on a level playing field. Them same people i guess did not share the profits from their "sales" to CnC (EA). It would be rude to mention names of such peoples so i will not mention the Xdaast scripts. hehehe ;-D "one_cIown;c-2219436" wrote:

free for all and anyone that chooses not to use them only place themselves at a disadvantage... yes ive heard that before somewhere... how about those of us who do not know how to install or use them? not everyone is a beputer haxor like these cheeky monkeys- o0netquik0o3 years agoRising AceHello everybody. Interesting discussion here, although I think it should have its own dedicated thread.
As for what I do, I wanted to make available a browser extension exactly to help the less experienced to use the userscripts that are used by many now. Of course, I also felt responsible for maintaining the scripts so that they worked with every update of the game and this seamlessly. On Chrome I count about 10k of weekly users who use the pack. The extension allows you to activate or deactivate each script easily and then restart the game.
I chose not to include in the collection some scripts found on the net that in my opinion offered functions that went beyond honest use in compliance with the rules of the game. I want to remember, as I have done several times, that the game itself involved the use of user scripts: in fact, it includes a hidden SCRIPTS menu in which you can "register" your script.
Everything I do, I do it for free. Many people write to me to fix bugs or update scripts and I try to be of help as much as I can. Nobody ever wrote to me asking me not to update the scripts so they wouldn't work. In this regard, as said by @one_cIown , the end of the free community of scripts would almost certainly lead to the use of scripts in an elitist (and perhaps paid) way, which I believe would worsen the situation @chadthurston complains about.
For the rest I assure you that I do not have much free time to devote to it and I would have no problem giving up my commitment if it is not appreciated by the community or by the game developers. In this regard, I am waiting for news from all of you, better if in a dedicated thread.
Thanks and have a nice day everyone. - I agree - therefore it now has a new home!

Agreed, not everyone is a computer wizard however if they join an alliance there are usually plenty of people willing to help and guide them to install scripts and will probably offer a few opinions on the 'best' ones to use.
i promise this is the last time i will point this out, best scripts to use might be a loose term to you, but the key word there "use" is exactly what i have been saying. nobody will be able to tell me how to use these scripts because i am computer illiterate. i must visually search for each letter in every single word i type. im not even going to get into the fact im terrible at socializing and may be a bit pathic in that area. so i have resolved myself to never being in an alliance with normal people and never using scripts. now im nothing special but my opinion likely reflects those whom do not have experience or knowledge playing the game at all, let alone installing and using complicated 3rd party scripts in order to have just a small chance at achieving any significant ranking in a server. the use of scripts has established "pecking order" in that the same people always playing in the same alliances that use scripts will always be in control of the environment due to these advantages alone. i can attest to the lack of skill and challenge that exists within this group. i have seen them play poorly many times against equal competition but that has since dissolved into a single communal entity called the remnants of project. these players win every server without challenge. a simple perusal of the top players in the most recent servers will show im correct in my assumption that it is the scripts and the group of players which posses the greatest knowledge on how to use them that have dominated every single server that has been started i the past 2 years. i dont like the taste of stale bread but when im hungry i will still eat it. just asking for the devs to bake us a fresh loaf here.- nefrontheone3 years agoSeasoned AceI'm not a game specialist but I've been enjoying this game for many years.
Even being part of an alliance, the use of scripts was not widespread at first.
Little by little, and changing alliances, I began to discover some scripts that "helped" (not replaced personal knowledge of the game) to advance in the progress of the game.
I met people who mastered many scripts and some I liked and others I didn't, I myself decided the ones I wanted to use or the ones I didn't (even some I still don't understand and they could be of great help).
Through the PTE world I learned about the use of inappropriate (abusive) scripts in the game and the persecution that was carried out by the community and developers to avoid this incorrect activity.
Little by little I have added new scripts to my usage folder and removed others because they have been implemented in the game. Some in-game implementations haven't matched the ease or capability of external scripts, so I'm keeping these externals.
In short, I want to thank everyone who has scripted the game, taught others how to use it, expanded the TA world as we knew it; Thank you.
